For the Entry Point to Year 3's new unit of work - Inventions - the Year 3 teachers came up with a wonderful dramatic and funny idea. I was asked to surprise the class just as they were coming in on Monday morning as if I was late to work. So at 8.25am I ran across the field with clothes all in disarray, eating a banana for my breakfast, arms full of papers and generally in a state of chaos. Most of them seemed to believe that I had just got to work, but had no time to organise myself. The Year 3 students were then asked to see if they could think of machines or inventions that could help me get ready and get to school on time.
On Thursday many parents were in the classrooms helping them turn their designs into reality and I came to see what they had come up with. Such an amazing variety of incredible ideas and wonderful models! My current favourite is the zip-line-gondola-from-my-house that carries me across the valley to the school. I can also have my breakfast in it while I skim at high speed just above the trees and straight to my office!
