All teachers and assistants have had two fascinating days of training this week with outstanding workshop leaders,
Annelies Hoogland and Bern Nicholls from EDUCCA.
We all learned a great deal as we were expertly guided through concept areas such as the links between emotions and learning, Growth Mindset and Looking for Learning.
There were several big take-aways for me from this training. One of them is of particular interest in terms of school leadership and organisation and that was 'protocols'. In particular, I mean the idea to embed the use of 'protocols' across the school for how we do things such as collecting and analysing learning data. But by extension an idea that this has sparked that I am considering is to look at other areas of our activities beyond the scope of the training that can benefit from protocols. For example, collaborative planning meetings or parent teacher conferences could also benefit from protocols that will help to generate the right types of dialogues and enable free flows of information and ideas.
