Korean

Picture
At ISK students learn Korean as an additional language as part of their IPC program. Students learn how to communicate in culturally appropriate ways. They make connections to previous knowledge, so for example, students are encouraged to compare and contrast Korean with their mother tongue, as well as other languages.

To develop their communication skills, students discover meaningful ways to participate in multilingual communities both inside the classroom, and out in the wider community. They also advance their computer skills by developing their Hangul (Korean alphabet) typing.

The knowledge, skills and understanding which students learn through their study of Korean as an additional language are acquired through:
  • Songs, stories and participating in hands on activities such as cooking and visiting museums and community facilities
  • Reading books and other resources, watching or listening to multimedia based resources
  • Expressing information verbally, in writing or through demonstrations and group activities
  • Using the interactive board to include all in the learning process
  • Using laptops to develop Hangul typing skills
  • Participating in local festivals and cultural events
